Law Enforcement Partnering With Social Services To Assist Those Experiencing Homelessness

Broward County is notable for its collaborative efforts between law enforcement and social service agencies, making it a model for other regions. The Multi-Agency Homeless Taskforce, a Florida non-profit, exemplifies this collaboration by addressing homelessness through coordinated outreach and training, effectively utilizing resources to help end the cycle of homelessness in the area.

Our Mission

Broward County is unique in many ways and has pioneered ideas that have become national models. One of the unique things about Broward County is that law enforcement and social service agencies collaborate effectively and partner together to make Broward County a great place to live, raise our families, keep our kids safe, and ultimately to help those in need.

We recognize that we have a population of individuals that are experiencing homelessness on our streets. With nearly 3,000 individuals homeless, a 1,000 of which are on the streets daily, we organized to collaborate with our law enforcement family and stakeholders to create a Taskforce that addresses homelessness and teaches law enforcement on homeless outreach.

When the idea was floated to start a Taskforce, many law enforcement agencies agreed it would be a great idea and would serve Broward County best. Since then, the Multi-Agency Homeless Taskforce has shown to be a strong advocate to address homeless outreach and trainings, and has helped alleviate underlying municipal concerns. It has also provided a stable development of utilizing County and non-governmental organizational resources more efficiently and effectively.

Together, the Multi-Agency Homeless Taskforce, a Florida non-profit corporation, serves as a strong voice in addressing homeless outreach to help end the cycle of homelessness in Broward County.
